Once the current bent knives sell out, I will continue making only BN-1, BN-G, mBN-2.

Double Edge Bent Knives
for Spoon Carving and more...

These knives are traditional Northwest Native carving tools with surprising versatility. They are fantastic for hollowing out the insides of spoons and bowls.
The curved blades are sharp on both edges, so they can be used with pushing and pulling strokes without needing to change positions. And there is no right or left handed version - the same blade works for both.
The large comfortable handles are most frequently held palm up in one hand, but can also be used with both hands for extra leverage and control. The handles are finished with a light coat of tung oil. They will quickly pick up the oils from your hand and develop a rich patina.

Shallow Bent Knife   $95

Shallow double edge bent knife (crooked knife)for shallow cuts on wood surfaces. Very good for leaving shallow knife cuts without the need for sanding.
BN-1   1.5" blade    9" overall

General Bent Knife   $95

General bent knife (crooked knife) - this is the best for overall general hollowing out of wood projects, as the shape of the blade is most versetile.
BN-G   1.5" blade    9" overall

Tip Bent Knife   $95

Temporarily discontinued
Tip Bent knive (crooed knife), has the most reach for getting into small areas and for aggressive removal of wood.
BN-3   1.5" blade    9" overall

Deep Bent Knife   $95

Temporarily discontinued
Deep bent knife (crooked knife) for relief wood carvings, especially useful in carving large spoons and bowls.
BN-2   1.5" blade    9" overall

My most versatile wood carving tools. These bent knives, also call crooked knives, are used held palm up and thumb high on far end od handle for leverage.
The double edge cuts both pulling and pushing, so as the grain changes you don't need to turn the piece around.
Free hand can hold wood, so a vice is not needed.

mini Shallow Bent Knife     $72

Temporarily discontinued
mini shallow double edge bent knife. The most pointed blade, allowing access to the smallest areas. This is also exceptionally good for fairing in shoulder areas of spoons with tight rounding cuts
mBN-1    .75" blade    7" overall

mini Deep Bent Knife     $72

mini double edge deep bent knife is a favorite of spoon carvers for carving small wood spoons
mBN-2    .75" blade    7" overall

mini Tip Bent Knife     $72

Temporarily discontinued
mini tip bent double edge bent knife - the tip is bent to a tight radius for aggressive removal of material. Also good for reaching into tight areas that don't
have enough room for larger tools.
mBN-3   .75" blade    7" overall

mini General Bent Knife     $72

Temporarily discontinued
General bent, mini bent double edge knife.
Also known as crooked knife, as used in the Native North Coast style wood carving. The radius of curvature of the blade decreases gradually
all the way to the tip. So the user has a variety of curves to use for general carving.
A very good general hollowing out knife.
mBN-G    .75" blade    7" overall

Half size versions of my regular Bent Knives. Usually held palm up and thumb high on far
end of handle for leverage. The double edge cuts both pulling and pushing, so as the
grain changes you don't need to turn the piece around. Your free hand can hold the wood, so no vice is needed.
These knives offer the ultimate in control for precise carving because the blades are so short and
very close to user's hand. They are real favorites.
